Department of Student Affairs, Extracurricular Activities Guidance Section held the “Hungkuang Together” Mazu Pilgrimage experience activity on April 25 near the Longjing District Office on Shatian Road toward Shalu. Led by Professor Cheng Chin-ching, students from the Department of Tourism and Hospitality distributed handmade “Blessing Pastries and Breads” to pilgrims along the route. Meanwhile, the Department of Physical Therapy and the Department of Sports and Leisure provided professional kinesiology taping services and fitness supplies, while students from the Department of Senior Citizen Services assisted with administrative operations, creating the ultimate campus support station.
Notably, international students from Indonesia, Vietnam, India, Thailand, Hong Kong, and Malaysia wore their traditional national costumes, showcasing diverse cultural flair while providing services. Through this interdisciplinary collaboration and international student participation, students not only experienced the passion of Taiwanese faith firsthand but also demonstrated the professional competence and inclusive charm of Hungkuang students to the pilgrims along the way.
An Indian student participating in the event remarked that Taiwanese people are incredibly warm and hospitable, noting that she didn’t know how to turn down the gifts offered by pilgrims along the route, and she would love to experience it again. Other international students also described it as a fun and fascinating experience. Among them, Malaysian student Hsu Feng-chieh, participating for the second time, said he had been looking forward to this activity all year, exclaiming, “It’s just amazing and so unique!”
