Topic: From Internship Project to Academic Research: Students Uncover Healthcare Dilemmas in “Non-Mountainous, Non-Urban” Communities
Under the guidance of Assistant Professor Wu Pei-hsun from the Department of Nursing, seven students from the two-year senior college program (Division of Continuing Education) conducted a research project during their internship titled “Applying the Eight Subsystems for Community Health Assessment: A Case Study of Wulu Village, Qingshui District.” The study revealed that communities like Wulu Village, which are “neither located in mountainous areas nor inside urban centers,” face critical challenges such as uneven distribution of medical resources and difficulty accessing health information and emergency medical facilities. To address these issues, the study recommends increasing health seminars, psychological counseling, and elderly care activities to achieve “healthy, convenient, and tangible” community healthcare.
