International Denim Day originated from a 1992 case in Italy, in which a teenage girl wearing tight jeans was sexually assaulted. However, the judge ruled that the perpetrator could not have removed her jeans without her consent, resulting in the offender being found not guilty. This controversial verdict sparked widespread protests around the world. In response, a civil organization in the United States launched “International Denim Day” to raise public awareness of sexual assault survivors and sexual violence, designating the last Wednesday of April each year as Denim Day. This year, it falls on April 29, 2026.
We sincerely invite all faculty members and students to participate and show support together.
