Using convenience store parcel services makes selling and picking up goods very convenient. However, some student sellers at our school have been scammed out of over ten thousand NT dollars by fake buyers working with fake customer service representatives! Unlike previous cases where buyers were deceived, this time student sellers received messages or links claiming “unable to place an order,” “must complete the transaction through the parcel service,” “payment service not activated,” or “account verification required,” and unfortunately fell into a scam trap. The Campus Safety Center reminds all faculty and students that phone calls showing numbers starting with “+2,” “+886,” or similar are likely scam calls. If you hear keywords like “disable ATM settings,” “sign up for payment services,” “account verification,” or “apply for payment verification,” please hang up immediately—this is a scam! The Campus Safety Center urges you to remember the five “Don’ts” and one “Must” to prevent fraud: “Don’t answer” calls from strangers, “Don’t listen” to investment tips, “Don’t click” on unknown links, “Don’t share” personal information, “Don’t trust” suspicious information, and always “Must call” the anti-fraud hotline at 165 to verify.
