☀成果展目標/Objectives:

由學生分組合作,為弘光科技大學國際學生量身打造《弘光康百視(HungKuang Compass)》雙語版校園導覽雜誌。內容涵蓋國際事務處、國際專修班、圖書館、華文中心、EMI中心、P棟餐廳及弘櫻館等重要校園資源,協助國際學生快速認識校園環境,提升在弘光的學習與生活適應能力。

Students will collaboratively create and present a customized bilingual edition of the HungKuang Compass Magazine designed specifically for international students. Through this project, students aim to help international students become more familiar with and engaged in campus life at HungKuang University.

The final group presentations will showcase bilingual magazine content introducing key campus resources and facilities, including the Office of International Affairs, International Foundation Program, Library, Chinese Language Center, EMI Center, P Building Food Court, and Hung Sakura Hall.

☀成果展宗旨/Course Project Achievement Showcase:

國際溝通英語系與通識教育中心合聘卓淑美副教授策劃並邀請業界講師 Douglas Habecker 參與協同教學,於國際溝通英語系二年甲班「英語聽力訓練」及「英語口語訓練」課程中,進行深度實務教學與互動指導。

本課程結合外籍教師與業界專家的專業經驗,透過情境式教學、跨文化交流及實作活動,提升學生英語聽說能力與國際溝通技巧。同時將課程內容與實務應用結合,培養學生問題解決能力、跨域思維及實作能力,落實教學創新與智慧學習精神。

本活動亦呼應「大學社會責任實踐計畫(University Social Responsibility ,USR)」及聯合國永續發展目標(SDGs):

  • SDGs 04 優質教育(Quality Education:透過外籍教師與業界講師協同授課,提供多元且豐富的跨文化學習資源,提升教學品質與學生國際視野。
  • SDGs 10 減少不平等(Reduced Inequalities:營造友善、多元與包容的學習環境,提升學生跨文化理解與溝通能力。
  • SDGs 16 和平、正義與健全制度(Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions:促進不同文化背景間的理解與尊重,培養具國際素養與社會責任感的人才。
  • SDGs 17 夥伴關係(Partnerships for the Goals:透過校內外資源合作及國際師資交流,建立全球夥伴關係,推動校園國際化發展。

藉由外籍教師及業界講師共同參與教學,不僅強化學生英語聽、說、讀、寫能力,更提升其跨文化溝通與國際行動力,打造具國際視野的雙語校園環境,持續深化校園國際化與永續發展目標。

Associate Professor Gloria Shu-Mei Chwo, jointly appointed by the Department of English for Global Communication and the General Education Center, organized this project and invited industry professional Mr. Douglas Habecker to participate in collaborative teaching for the sophomore Class A courses English Listening Training and English Oral Communication Training. Through this collaboration, students received practical instruction and interactive guidance from both academic and industry perspectives.

The courses integrated the expertise of foreign instructors and industry professionals to enhance students’ English listening and speaking proficiency, as well as their international communication skills. Through situational learning, cross-cultural exchanges, and hands-on activities, students were encouraged to apply classroom knowledge to real-world contexts. The curriculum also emphasized problem-solving, interdisciplinary thinking, and practical application, reflecting the principles of innovative teaching and smart learning.

This project also aligns with the University Social Responsibility (USR) Program and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs):

SDGs 4 – Quality Education
Through collaborative teaching by foreign instructors and industry professionals, students are provided with diverse and enriching cross-cultural learning resources, enhancing both educational quality and global awareness.

SDGs 10 – Reduced Inequalities
The project promotes a friendly, diverse, and inclusive learning environment while strengthening students’ intercultural understanding and communication skills.

SDGs 16 – Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions
By encouraging mutual understanding and respect among people from different cultural backgrounds, the project cultivates globally minded individuals with a strong sense of social responsibility.

SDGs 17 – Partnerships for the Goals
Through collaboration among university departments, external partners, and international educators, the project fosters global partnerships and supports the internationalization of the campus.

Through the joint participation of foreign instructors and industry professionals, students not only strengthen their English listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills, but also enhance their intercultural communication competence and global mobility. This initiative contributes to the development of a bilingual campus environment with an international perspective while further advancing campus internationalization and sustainable development goals.

☀業師簡介/Industry Expert Profile:

Douglas Habecker(何道明)先生為臺中知名雙語生活雜誌《康百視》(Compass Magazine)發行人兼總編輯,曾擔任台中美國商會主席,長期致力於促進國際交流與雙語教育發展。亦多次擔任弘光科技大學「臺中國際生與企業交流暨僑生就業巡迴說明會」主持人。

Mr. Douglas Habecker is the Publisher and Editor-in-Chief of Compass Magazine, a well-known bilingual lifestyle magazine based in Taichung. He previously served as Chairman of the American Chamber of Commerce in Taichung and has long been dedicated to promoting international exchange and the development of bilingual education. He has also served on multiple occasions as the host of HungKuang University\’s Taichung International Student and Industry Exchange Forum and Overseas Chinese Student Employment Information Sessions.
