The Malaysian Alumni Association of Hungkuang University celebrated its 10th anniversary by hosting the “2026 Hungkuang Night and General Meeting” on the evening of August 15 at the Restaurant Hee Lai Ton on the 5th floor of PJ Centrestage in Petaling Jaya. Hungkuang University President Hung-Yi Su and Dean of International Affairs Chi-Hu Tien made a special trip to Malaysia to attend the event. Guests included Liao Yi-Hsuan, Director of the Education Division, and Liao Chien-Hsun, Director of the Expatriate Affairs Division of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Malaysia, as well as Gan Chen-Hui, Deputy President of the Federation of Alumni Associations of Taiwan Universities, Malaysia. Poo Keng-Teck, President of the Alumni Association, expressed his gratitude on behalf of the association to the faculty and leaders of his alma mater, Hungkuang University, for traveling from afar, as well as to all guests and members for taking the time to attend. Over the past 10 years, the Alumni Association has served as a warm hub where Hungkuang alumni in Malaysia look out for and support one another.

Liao Yi-Hsuan thanked Hungkuang University for its long-standing dedication to cultivating outstanding talent and supporting educational exchanges between Taiwan and Malaysia. She noted that the university has also aligned with initiatives to promote vocational education teacher training in recent years, paving the way for seamless integration of technical and vocational talent between both sides. President Hung-Yi Su expressed deep gratification in seeing the Malaysian Alumni Association grow from its early stages to a thriving community, with alumni shining in their respective fields. He expressed hope that the association would continue to serve as a key bridge between the university, Malaysian students studying in Taiwan, and feeder schools.

The dinner featured special sharing sessions where several alumni reflected on their journeys from their student days to entering the workforce and starting their own businesses. An alumnus from the Department of Child Care and Education recalled interning in Singapore during university, applying classroom knowledge on the front lines, and shared the joys and challenges of entrepreneurship. An alumnus from the Department of Food and Beverage Management shared insights gained from studying in Italy and how that eye-opening experience shaped their outlook. A student from the Department of Food Science detailed how their academic background helped them take steps toward their dreams and bear fruit in their career. Chiew Keng-Fai, Chairman of the Organizing Committee, reminisced about his time in the International Student Club and serving as a club officer. The experience of organizing events and leading peers became a strong foundation for his career.

The organizing committee arranged a “Hungkuang Trivia” quiz and a lucky draw, filling the room with applause and cheers, creating a warm and lively atmosphere throughout the evening.
