From 2021 to 2025, Hungkuang University underwent several significant departmental changes and program developments to better align with evolving academic and industry needs. In 2021, the Department of Computer Science and Information Management was renamed the Department of Multimedia Game Development and Application to reflect its updated focus. Meanwhile, the Department of Biotechnology was closed. In 2022, the university established both four-year daytime and evening programs in the Department of Animal Healthcare. That year also saw the merger of the Department of Nutrition with the Master of Biomedical Nutrition Program, resulting in the newly named Department of Nutrition. Similarly, the Department of Safety, Health and Environmental Engineering merged with the Master Programs in Environmental Engineering and Occupational Safety and Hazard Prevention, consolidating under the name Department of Safety, Health and Environmental Engineering. The Department of Computer Science and Information Engineering was renamed the Department of Intelligent Technology and Applications. However, student recruitment for the Bachelor Degree Program in Animal Healthcare was discontinued. In 2023, the Department of Cultural and Creative Industries was renamed the Department of Cultural Design and Marketing, while the Department of Biomedical Engineering became the Department of Medical Equipment Development and Application. Additionally, the Department of Speech Language Pathology and Audiology received approval to increase its student intake by five. In 2024, new two-year evening programs were established in the Department of Animal Healthcare and the Department of Child Care and Education. The four-year evening program of the Department of Safety, Health, and Environmental Engineering discontinued individual admissions for its Environmental Engineering Program and Occupational Safety and Health Program. Currently, in 2025, the Department of Health Business Administration is launching an On-the-Job Extension Education Program, and the Department of Nursing’s four-year evening program will increase its student intake by 45. |
